At CBT Solutions, we offer high quality, personalized cognitive behavioural therapy to adults in Hamilton and across Ontario. We provide an environment where respect, integrity, compassion, and effectiveness in our services are prioritized. We are a team of life-long learners who draw from a range of innovative, evidence based techniques to support clients in working towards their goals.

Liz Curran

Registered Social Worker/Psychotherapist (MSW, RSW)

Liz brings a wide range of therapeutic and leadership experience from her years of work in private, non-profit, and community based settings.

Liz is constantly amazed at the strength and resiliency that we have as human beings, and works to honour both the strengths and challenges that clients bring to the therapy process. She works to create a foundation of compassion and respect, weaving together mindfulness and acceptance approaches and trauma-informed care into traditional CBT.

She works with a wide range of mental health experiences, including anxiety, depression, insomnia, panic attacks, OCD, PTSD, life stress and transitions, grief and loss, compassion fatigue and burnout, and relationship issues.

When she’s not in the office, you can find her gardening at her home in east Hamilton, camping, kayaking, cycling, cross-country skiing, and spending time with her family and friends.

Bernard has always been curious about the process of creating positive change and transformation. He works diligently to create an environment of respect for the different experiences we all bring as human beings. Bernard brings many years of experience working in intensive case management, mental health outreach, and as a CBT therapist in the Ontario Structured Psychotherapy program.

Bernard expertly guides clients experiencing anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, panic attacks, specific phobias, life stress, or overwhelming emotions, using the most current and evidence based Cognitive Behavioural strategies, including Exposure and Response Prevention and Cognitive Processing Therapy.

Melissa Truelove

Registered Social Worker / Psychotherapist (BSW, RSW)

Melissa brings both clinical and lived experience to her practice. She approaches her practice with humility, compassion and curiosity. Melissa seeks to understand clients’ multilayered, unique worldview from an anti-oppressive framework. She has worked in a wide variety of social service settings throughout her career.

She has gained a breadth of knowledge and experience in mental health, concurrent disorders and the impacts of trauma on individuals’ lives, and is available to help clients navigate anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions and more.

Melissa is a helper who is well-versed in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, ACT therapy and EFT (Emotion Focused Therapy).  You can meet with Melissa in our office, online, or out on Hamilton nature trails for her Walk and Talk therapy sessions.

On her off time, you can find Melissa out in the woods taking in the healing energy of nature. She also enjoys Zumba, rollerblading and yoga.

As a third-culture individual and immigrant woman, Lujayn understands the importance of celebrating our differences while finding common ground. Her goal is to create a supportive and respectful therapeutic relationship, grounded in trust and acceptance.   Lujayn draws from a variety of approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Interpersonal Therapy.

She offers a compassionate, supportive, and collaborative space where you can work together to lighten your load, build resilience, and foster personal growth. Quincy Hanna

Psychotherapy Intern (B.A, MSc in progress)

Quincy strives to offer a warm, open-minded and supportive environment in the therapy room.She uses an evidence-based, but creative, personalized and flexible approach to therapy, primarily pulling from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Skills.

If you are struggling in your relationships, feeling confused, hurt, overwhelmed, or dealing with anxiety and scary thoughts, Quincy can assist you to break down the problems into manageable chunks, providing a grounding base for even the most stressful moments.

Quincy weaves in strengths based and trauma informed approaches into her work , and is available to assist with Anxiety, Coping Skills, Depression, Emotional Regulation, Life Transitions, Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD), Relationship Issues, Self Esteem, Self-Harming, Sleep Issues and Stress.

Destiny Benoit

Office Assistant

Destiny is a recent graduate of the Psychology Program at Brock University. She brings a wealth of skills and knowledge, that help to keep our practice running smoothly. In her spare time she volunteers in the mental health programs at St Joseph’s Hospital and at the John Howard Society, facilitating Anger Awareness and Navigating Relationships programs.

Destiny enjoys hiking, cooking, and playing soccer. You may encounter her kind and positive attitude on the phone or here in the office – don’t hesitate to say hello.

Session Fees

Pricing

• Individual Sessions with our Registered Social Worker/Psychotherapists: $135 / 50 minutes   (90 / 110 minute sessions also available).  Available in person in our Hamilton office, virtually, and through walk and talk sessions.

• Individual Sessions with our Psychotherapy Interns: Sliding Scale $45-65 / 50 minute session.  Available in person and virtually.

• Group Therapy for Anxiety and Depression: $40/hour  (16 hour Therapy Skills Group for a total of $640, payment plans available).  In person.

Most workplace insurance plans provide coverage for sessions
with a Registered Social Worker.  Our Individual Sessions with RSW’s, Psychotherapy Interns, and Group Therapy all fall within Registered Social Work services.
Session fees not claimed on your insurance can be deducted on your income tax return as a health expense
First Nations status members have access to federal funding (through NIHB)
